Product Review: Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser

Product: Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Overall: 0 out of 5
Price: $20 for 8 oz, $32 for 16 oz, $40 for 24 oz
Would you buy this again? No!!

PROS: It seemed to clean my face very well.

CONS: It cleansed my face well, but that's because it stripped just about EVERYTHING off. I used it for a couple of days and the first day & second day, it left my skin feeling tight and dry. Okay so, no problem I just moisturized. The third day left my face so dry that it hurt and almost felt like my skin was peeling. It was definitely extremely dry and crackly. It hurt a lot and I've never EVER had any facial cleanser do that to me.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with dry skin. STAY AWAY from this! Lol. Don't know why it won a best of Sephora award! Farrah, you might have better results with this if you don't have dry skin... and you should see if you can get a sample of it first. I know Nordstrom gives out samples and Sephora might too.

after just glancing at the price and how long the cons list is compared to the pros list... i think i'll be skipping this. LOL.

well, the hotel was in San Ramon and my bf's sister lives in Sunnyvale and his cousin lives in Stockton. :P But we spent it in Sunnyvale since his sis was the one taking us to the airport on Sunday. I love it up north, I really do. :)

hm .. i got a sample of this from sephora but i never used it. Maybe it's marketing :P.

Oh so remmeber that cosmetic holder in the giraffe print you got from sephora (pst the really cute one!). I saw it on sale at sephora for 15 bucks! Well .. the smaller "pencil case" lookin one. Just a heads up if you wanted to get another one!

that's one expensive cleanser! oh, don't pay too much attention to sephora award. I heard from MUA, the girls there are very experienced and have lots of m/u knowledge, that sephora awards goes to whoever has most moolah. i really like how gentle dhc powder wash and pure luxe calamine bar. but if they're too hard to get cos they're only available online, neutrogena cleansers work just fine plus they're cheap. you rinse it out instantly anyway, so no use to invest so much money.

wow that doesn't sound too good. =\ i have combo to oily skin but even my MAC green gel cleanser leaves my face feeling tight so i can't imagine what this one would do to me.

I'm sorry that your skin peeled off using that :( You should get something more moisturizing soap I think. So,, are you gonna use rest of it or just throw away ? Hope your skin gets better soon :)

hmmm you should try the yellow mascara then =] I think the 2 for $8 sale is going on in most walgreens. I still haven't tried it on yet lol I'm lazy with mascaras most of the time lol

Omg, that sounds terrible. I received this in a set as a gift, but I gave it to my bf to use... lol! He seems to have no problems with it.

Did you put moisturizer on afterwards, and it was still too drying??

OUCH! When you said, your face was so dry that it hurts. I know exactly how you feel! That happened to me, last year w/ some toner I was using. My derm made me leave that alone and use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser as my regular facial cleaner plus a good moisturizer also. In no time, I've got back the mositure that was stripped from my face and I couldn't be happier.

Believe me, it was so dry, it hurt, I can see ALL my fine lines, when I smile or make any facial expression and flaky white stuff was peeling frm my face. It was horrible! I hope your face feels better, now that you stop using the Philosophy brand. I've always wondered about those products, thanks for reviewing it!!

oh damnnn. ): maybe if people get this, they should use like .. apea size amount haha. but yeah seriously idk why it's the best seller of sephora or w/e.

The matte part, lipstick, stays pretty much the whole day. The glossy part, lip gloss, you need to reapply throughout the day like a normal lip gloss. I hope I answered your question! :)

Wow, I'm surprised this didn't work out for you! I found it very, very moisturizing, so I thought it'd be great for dry skin. :( Better luck next time!
